The fishing industry is struggling with environmental and welfare issues, including overfishing and occupational safety. Additionally, climate change, biodiversity loss and overfishing endanger the livelihoods and food security of a large group of people depending on this business. The fisheries and aquaculture industry becomes more sustainable with certification programs such as MSC and ASC.
MSC – Marine Stewardship Council
The Marine Stewardship Council (MSC) fisheries and MSC Chain of Custody (CoC) standards help companies and organisations to promote and identify wild caught fish as sustainable and well managed. The MSC certification process covers fish caught from ‘vessel to plate’ and across the whole supply chain.

BAP is the first comprehensive aquaculture certification program with a global presence to be recognized by the Global Sustainable Seafood Initiative (GSSI) and the Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI).
