The Operations Manager – Commodity and Inspections at Control Union (United States), Inc. is responsible for overseeing the day -to-day activities of the Commodity Inspection teams to ensure timely, accurate and compliant delivery of commodity inspection services. The Operations Manager-Commodity Inspections will also ensure that technical decisions remain independent from commercial, financial, or operational pressures, in line with ISO/IEC 17020 impartiality requirements. This role involves managing staff, optimizing operations, maintaining client satisfaction, and ensuring adherence to internal procedures and industry regulations. The Operations Manager commodity Inspections will also manage client / stakeholder requirements, lead technical decisions, support audits, develop standard operating procedures, deliver training, and track staff competencies. The Operations manager – Commodity Inspections is also responsible to oversee and ensure quality assurance monitor regulations and ensure technical impartiality and ISO/IEC 17020 compliance. The roles require excellent communications and supervisory skills, job coordination, and driving continuous improvements. If the Operations Manager- Commodity Inspections is unable to perform his / her duties the General Manager will assume the responsibilities.

 

Responsibilities

Operational Leadership & Management:

  • Oversee daily operations of the Commodity Inspections division, ensuring seamless execution of processes.
  • Oversee the quality and accuracy of work, ensuring compliance with internal and external standards.
  • Ensure operational efficiency and adherence to industry standards.
  • Develop and implement internal operational processes and best practices to optimize performance and resource allocation
  • Support General Manager of Commodity Inspections on the management Review and Operational numbers.
  • Support during internal & external audits

Corrective Action & Nonconformity Reporting:

  • Support the Quality Manager and General Manager in resolving complaints and claims, including root cause analysis and tracking corrective actions
  • Prepare and follow up on reports for nonconformities, incidents, and corrective actions per QMS protocols, ensuring effectiveness of implemented solutions

Team Supervision & Field Execution Oversight:

  • Supervise inspectors to ensure compliance with inspection method and client specifications
  • Oversee calibration, maintenance, and documentation of field equipment
  • Approve purchase orders and manage the procurement / registration of technical equipment and supplies.
  • Provide guidance and training to enhance team capabilities, maintain documented competency records, and ensure inspectors are authorized based on demonstrated qualifications and defined scopes of work
  • Provide technical training and guidance to enhance team capabilities, maintain competency records, and ensure personnel are supervised, monitored, and authorized based on documented procedures and demonstrated qualifications

Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s), Client & Work Order Management:

  • Create, define, and monitor KPI’s related to operational efficiency, audit accuracy and client satisfaction.
  • Implement corrective actions when KPI’s are not met and develop strategies for continuous improvement.
  • Prepare and present performance reports to senior management with recommendations for improvement.
  • Develop job-specific plans aligned with Standard operating procedures and ISO Standards
  • Coordinate with the Administration team, Logistics Manager and Port Managers to ensure

 

Client & Work Order Management:

  •  Develop job specific inspection plans aligned with standard operating procedures and ISO standards
  •  Coordinate with Administration team, logistics manager, Port manager to issue clear, technically sound work orders (IRS)

 

Requirements

  • Associated degree – Arts or Science
  • 3+ years of experience in Logistics and planning
  • Strong leadership and organizational skills.
  • Willingness to travel 20% locally and internationally.
  • Experience managing teams and overseeing operational processes
  • Strategic Thinking & Decision-making: Ability to align operational strategies with business goals.
